Underpinning Underpinning
  Subsidence
Particularly in the South East of England, many homes are built on clayey subsoil's and are subject to subsidence and heave when the clays shrink and swell with variations in moisture content.
This is usually referred to as subsidence.
Springett Associates can carry out a detailed structural engineer’s survey and prepare the necessary report on your property to assist you in this matter.

Subject to the agreement of your insurers, your property can be underpinned to protect the house from future movement.

Traditional mass concrete underpinning usually involves constructing mass concrete footings in bays beneath the existing foundations. Normally, associated repair of any cracking is carried out and often the floors are replaced or repaired.

Occasionally it may be more cost effective to underpin the foundations with piles rather than mass concrete.
